Most careers make more sense when you look backward. The turns that once seemed unrelated begin to connect and the experiences that felt like detours become the reason someone sees business differently from everyone else in the room. P. Blake Renda’s career is a strong example of that kind of path.

In a new VoyageLA feature, Renda shares the story behind his work with Veedor Holding LLC and the experiences that shaped his approach to leadership, entrepreneurship, and long-term growth. His career has moved through television production, law, investment management, business operations, and company building. On paper, those worlds may not seem closely connected. In practice, each one added another layer to the way he evaluates opportunities and helps businesses move forward.

A Career That Never Stayed in One Lane

Renda began his professional life in media after attending the University of Southern California. His early work in television placed him inside a fast-moving creative environment, but his career did not remain there. He later entered the legal field before an interest in technology and investing pulled him toward Silicon Valley and Wall Street.

Those changes were not made from a comfortable distance. They required leaving established positions, starting again, and accepting that a promising next step does not always look impressive in the beginning. That willingness to move toward the work that interested him most became a pattern throughout his career.

The VoyageLA conversation offers a closer look at those transitions and the thinking behind them. More importantly, it shows how experience from one industry can become unexpectedly useful in another. Media taught him about communication and audience. Finance sharpened his ability to research, question assumptions, and evaluate risks. Startup leadership brought those lessons into the daily reality of building a company where decisions have immediate consequences for employees, customers, and the future of the business.

From Evaluating Businesses to Building Them

There is a meaningful difference between analyzing a company and being responsible for one. Renda has experienced both sides.

His investment background taught him to look beyond a polished presentation and examine how a business actually works. As an entrepreneur, that same discipline became part of the foundation for Veedor Holdings LLC and the companies developed beneath it, including Dragon Horse Agency, Dragon Horse Publishing, and Moxie Creed.

That broader perspective also helped shape Dragon Horse Agency’s approach to marketing. The agency was built around the belief that marketing cannot be separated from the business behind it. A campaign may look good and still fail if it is based on a weak position, an unclear audience, or goals that were never properly defined. Strategy has to come first because the creative work can only be as strong as the thinking beneath it.

Growth Without the Polished Version

The most useful business stories are rarely the ones that pretend every decision worked perfectly. Entrepreneurship includes uncertainty, difficult timing, financial pressure, and moments when the original plan no longer fits the situation in front of you.

Renda’s path has included those realities. What stands out is not the absence of setbacks, but the ability to keep learning from them. Veedor Holdings was not built around chasing quick attention or expanding for the sake of appearing larger. Its companies have developed through deliberate decisions, complementary opportunities, and a long-term view of what they are capable of becoming.

That part of the story matters because patience is often overlooked in conversations about entrepreneurship. Growth is frequently presented as a race, but speed without direction can create expensive problems. Renda’s experience makes a different case: thoughtful growth may take longer, but it gives a business a stronger change of lasting.

The full VoyageLA interview explores Renda’s journey, the development of Veedor Holdings, and the lessons he has carried from one chapter of his career into the next one.
